Art Exhibition

Year 9 Maiden Erlegh art exhibition

The amazing emerging forms colourful and vibrant exhibition in the peacock gallery by year 9 Maiden Erlegh art students wowed viewers. “What a Fantastic, Vibrant exhibition!” said one viewer.
The students had a theme of emerging forms; each class had a chosen media to work with. In the Exhibition there were many different Medias like card, paper, clay, canvas’, wire and pillow decorating.

One piece that I think stood out was a fly emerging out of a piece of paper. I think the student who made this really took the idea of emerging forms to the next level by making there piece emerge from the paper.
“As soon as I walked into the room I was stunned by everyone’s creativity” said a viewer.

All of the different Medias were grouped together which made the whole room stand out as the 3d art students had their paper body architecture pieces in one corner which with the plain white colour really stood out
“It was hard to manipulate the chosen materials, as sometimes they didn’t work the way we planned” said an art student “But after we experimented with our material it was made a lot easier”

Overall it was a lovely, vibrant exhibition where everybody’s individual pieces stood out from all the others.

                                     Body Architecture design

Close up of my design

For the flower part i am going to make different sized "fans" out
of paper and attaching them all together to do this i need to make straight
indents every 2cm away from eachother and fold back to front

For my leaf i am going to make the basic shape out of card and then
use a technique called embossing to indents the stem to give it a better effect

Labelled design

To make my piece i will make a template around my arm to connect all of my pieces together. Then i will hot glue gun my flowers and leafs onto the template.

Soap Carving

        Soap Carving

This is my soap carving. This soap carving is of to different types of leaves.
I choose to do leaves for my soap carving because I like the leaf roots and I think
their roots have a nice patteren and texture. I also chose to do leaves because it really
connects to my theme of natural forms as a leaf is a natural form

I choose to do a shape like this because it really shows alot of skills for
example carving, indenting and smoothing down but if I just left my carving
as the shape of the bar of soap then I wouldn't have shown as many skills as i have shown
by doing this soap carving.

Experimenting with the soap really helped me to make my final piece because before this
I had never carved soap before or used the tools. If I hadn't of experimented first
my final piece wouldnt have turned out how it looks now.

My recycled design

So far i have had a few ideas of what my recycled head piece could
look like. My idea i would like to carry on with developing
is my idea to make a head piece out of straws, bottle tops and plastic bags.
I have drawn a rough labelled sketch to show you what this would look like

Here are some of the materials i will use

Bottle tops to me my flower petals

A plastic bag to use as a alice band

Using Straws as

Bottle top leafs comming of of the flower

Head Architecture

Head Architecture

This is a piece of head Architecture by the famous Milliner Philip Treacy.
I like this piece of head Architecture because it connects to my theme
natural forms. This piece connects with my theme as all of the objects
flowers, leafs and butterflys connect to natural forms. This inspires me because
I like the different naturals forms all connected together and it helps inspire
my ideas by the different natural forms it is using.

This head piece by tonya gross is very nice because it shows a different type
of head architecture. I like this piece because it fits into my theme of
natural forms and also it is hard to guess what it is so it isnt as obvious and some
of the pieces of head architecture. This piece of work will also inspire me because I like
the idea of using one main material to show my theme.

This piece of head architecture was inspired by dahilas which grew in this
designers home. This piece of work would inspire me as I like how they have changed the shape
of the flowers edges to make it more like that type of flower. It also inspires me as it
was made up from recycled metal cans which is the media we are working
with (recyled objects)

This is an ancient egyption cleopatra head piece which Ithink is really insperational
as it is a cultural head piece which is very recongizable. This also inspires me as out aim is
to make a head piece out of recyled things. Even though these things are not
recyled I could imagine a similar head piece but made out of recyled objects.

This is a headdress from china. I think this is very insperational for my piece
of work because this is very cultural but also i could imagine this made out
of recyled objects such as cans, pom poms and feathers which out topic is about, I choose
to add this piece to my blog as it inspires me in those aspects.

This head piece is also by Phillip Treacy. I think this is very insperational for me
as it really fits into my theme of nature and natural forms. Also i could
easily re-create this head piece using my own recyled materials. I connected
parts of this piece to my work, for example I was inspired by the butterflys and
used this idea for my ear architecture homework.

This piece of hat architecture really inspires me due to its ideas which is
leafs which connects to my theme and it will influence me too
make my piece of body architectue simple but very effective.

This is another piece of head architecture by Phillip Treacy.
This Piece inspires me soo much due to the flower on the top of the head
piece which connect to my theme but also the netting parts flowing of off the head
piece. That inspires me as it reminds be of spiders webs that i focused
on in my first piece of work (my paper glove architecture).

This piece of work reminds me of a certain type of tree bark which
also fits in with my theme. This piece is made from a non recycled
piece of material but I could imagine it made with a recyled material
which is why this piece inspires me.

This piece of work is also by Philip Treacy. Its very much inspires me
dues to the interwinding pieces of material which when put together
reminds me of a type of flower which is connected to my theme of natural forms.
Even though this piece isnt made out of recycled material it could have easily
of been made from recycled paper.

More Pictures for Natural Forms and Nature

I added some pictures which will inspire me for my natural forms and nature theme aswell as these and on my first blog

A dripping leaf will inspire be by its shape and the lines of the actual leaf

This picture inspired me by the actual roots of the leaf

Flower

Flower

I liked this picture as you can see the blackberries, leafs and stems of the plant

I took this picture as i liked the angle the flowers were at aswell as all the other plants
in the background

                                                 Tree Bark
An landscape of trees, fields and hills (My photography)
I took a picture of this butterfly as its wing patterens are very insperational

I like these leafs a they are hanging upside down and u can see the veins of the leafs aswell!

This time i chose to just upload pictures of the natural forms rather than uploading body achitecture because these things inspire me more than the actual body achitecture that i had on my other blog.

Paper glove: Final piece

Paper Glove

I made a paper glove which represents lots of different thinks inside my theme natural forms.
The main part of my glove is the 3d circular piece and a ringwhich is made the represent a spiders web. I also have a long piece of paper going down the arm which represents a tree and its bark.
These connect with my theme natural forms because all of these things are natural forms.
I could have developed my ideas by adding different parts which represents natural forms
but overall I am happy with my final product.

My experiments and blog ideas really helped with my final piece as I had more ideas
for what to add on to my "spiders web" If I didnt have my blog I wouldn't have
come up with the centre piece which inspired me from tree bark and I wouldn't
have came up with the "spiders web".
This is my final piece
A close up on the "Bark" and "Spidersweb"

A close up of the "Bark"

This is the spiders web that inspired me to make my piece.

Experimenting helped me make my final piece because i found out different paper techiniques
that worked and didnt work for my final piece.

This piece of work helped us alot as it also connects to the GCSE assessment objectives.
AO1 is to develop are ideas which we developed our experimental ideas to make our finals piece. AO2 is to refine our ideas through experimenting which we also did. AO4 is to present our final piece which we nearlly did since we presented our final piece on our blogs.

Experimenting

Experimenting

I made this piece first, when we were experimenting with the paper. I really liked the idea of using a fan for my piece but didn’t think it fitted in with my theme natural forms so I carried on experimenting This experiment really helped me since I loved the idea of using the paper "fan" but knew it wouldn’t fit in with my theme so I adapted my idea to my theme.

I also made this piece when we were experimenting with the paper and when I finished making this piece I thought it looked like a spiders web which really fitted in this fitted in with my theme, natural forms. I really liked the idea of making the paper into a spiders web so I decided to expand on my experimental idea.

The next week I decided to make a bigger version of my spider’s web knowing that it fitted in with my theme. I wanted to make it big enough to fit on my arm above my wrist, but I wanted to make it look more like a spider’s web and also make more parts to go with it.
I decided when I finished making the flatter version of my spiders web I would prop the cut parts out making it look more 3D and when I finished bending the things out in my experimental piece I realized my piece was starting to look more and more like a spider’s web.

GCSE Assessment Objectives

This work connects to the GCSE Assessment Objectives because this piece of work is all about developing your ideas which may have been inspired by other artists which is the first assessment objective. It also connects with assessment objective two because we have to refine our ideas through experimenting so this work helps us achieve some of the GCSE Assessment Objectives.

Natural forms

                                                         Welcome to my blog!

I have followed the theme of Natural Forms for my body architecture piece. I choose this theme because it gives you a lot of variety and also there are many different ideas inside this one theme!
Below are some Pictures that inspired me

This picture really inspired me as when I looked at it. I could really imagine a person
                                                               Intertwined within this form.

This piece of natural fashion was designed by Mario’s Schwab who was
Inspired by this beetle (Right hand side picture)

This 3d headpiece was inspired by leaves and their roots

I took this picture of a trees bark because tree bark is a natural form and I think
That tree bark or a tree bark looking material would be a great media for Body Architecture

I took this picture because I could imagine a person inside a Body
Architecture with a Media like this

I really like this natural fashion which reminds me of tree roots
I would like to see a body architecture piece with all of the materials and
Design like the picture on the right!

This is a design by Oskar Schlemmer which reminded me of a flower head.

This head piece was inspired by crows; the feathery design is also mirrored
                                                                     Within the neck piece

This head piece was inspired by natural forms

This fashion was inspired by an African crowned crane.

I took this picture of a plant as i like the look of it and it really fits in with my theme

I took this picture of a flower and some plant leaves because i
like the flowers colour and texture

When I make my piece I will think about each type of material I will use for my structure,
I would love to make my piece from something which represents a leaf and it roots and also maybe the twigs on a tree!
